About CISV India

At CISV we believe that peace education begins with children, which is why our camps begin at the age of 11. Participants range from the age of 11 to 19 (as delegates) to 21 and over (as leaders and volunteers). All CISV activities focus on Peace Education and is affiliated to UNESCO. Each camp we ensure our participants develop set of Attitudes, Skills and Knowledge that are required to make them Active World Peaceful Citizens. Our mission says it all : CISV educates and inspire action for a more just and peaceful world.

For the past 64 years, CISV India has sent delegations for camps from the utopian Scandinavian countries in Europe and the vibrant, cultural ones across the Middle East, to the picturesque and lively lands of North and South America, all the back to the vast, incredible homeland of our own Asia. Our enthusiastic young delegates and committed leaders have represented India at these camps, exchanging ideas about world peace, cross-cultural harmony and social conscientiousness.

What we do

CISV believes in Learning by Doing. All our activities are focused on experiential learning, actively involving participants from conception to execution. Broadly, we base our activities on our four focus areas, that are Diversity, Human Rights, Conflict and Resolution and Sustainable Development. These areas give us a framework for our themes and camps, also reflecting our pedagogy.

As an international organization in continual growth, these four focus areas highlight the way we think and act.

Experiential learning or ‘learning by doing’ is simply the philosophy that one learns best from experiences. This process is characteristic of CISV’s programs, and we believe in making our activities more effective by allowing them to be fun, engaging and open to all.

CISV Team

A group of enthusiastic, loyal and sincere individuals, we believe that Team CISV India is a close-knit family constituting over 500 people across our 2 Chapters at Maharashtra and Lucknow.

Some of our oldest volunteers have been with us since the age of 11, having participated in every camp since. All of our youngest volunteers aim to do the same. A common saying that goes around the CISV India family is that CISV isn’t just something we do, it’s the way we live.
